Opportunities for the future of physical education in Iran's education in the horizon of 2051

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this research is to identify the opportunities for physical education in education in the future of Iran.
Methodology: In terms of the fundamental purpose of this research, it is a prospective study that was conducted with an analytical-exploratory approach and in a qualitative manner using the nominal interview method.Thematic analysis method was used to analyze the research data. The participants included sports teachers, professors of Farhangian University, directors of the General Department of Physical Education in Education and experts of the Ministry of Education, who were selected in a purposeful and theoretical manner. The interview started with 5 people and continued until theoretical saturation was reached. Finally, the interview ended with 17 people
Results: The research findings were coded and categorized after analyzing the interviews using the content analysis method of the research samples. After summarizing, combining, and merging the codes that had common semantic and conceptual aspects, a total of 56 open codes of future opportunities for physical education in Iranian education were identified, which were categorized into 4 main categories and 10 subcategories.
Conclusion: The results of this research showed that the categories of creating new infrastructure, reviewing educational goals, changing curriculum content, and modern social interaction were considered by experts as opportunities for the future of physical education in Iranian schools.
